OUR 2020-2021 SEASON
Musica Viva Australia was founded in by Romanian -born violinist Richard Goldner , with the aim of bringing chamber music to Australia. The co-founder was German-born musicologist Walter Dullo. In Musica Viva was a string ensemble performing chamber music to small groups of European immigrants. In , Musica Viva has become the largest chamber music presenter in the world. Musica Viva also runs one of the largest music education programs in Australia, Musica Viva In Schools, which reaches around , school children each year.
START OF THE 2019/20 SEASON
The story of musica viva starts on October 7th, — a mere five months after the end of World War II. These concert series are founded by the German composer Karl Amadeus Hartmann. His goal is to introduce contemporary music to the audience. But Hartmann faces problems financing his concerts. Locations change continuously. Not only does this give musica viva secure financing, Hartmann now also has a professional choir and orchestra at his disposal. At first, Hartmann concentrates on showing his audience the developments in contemporary music that they had missed during twelve years of Nazi regime.
